New GTA IV PC Details

Monday 29 September 2008 | Post a comment

New game details about Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC have surfaced in the Italian gaming magazine, The Game Machine.
" - The replay editor can record, save and edit the last 30 seconds of the game. Once you have saved your video, you can open another piece of internal software in order to change the point of view and add special effects. The montage editor allows you to edit various replays into a single sequence, add audio tracks from the official soundtrack of the game and add effects like transition from a sequence to another. You can then upload and publish your videos to the Rockstar Social Club to share them with the world.
- The GPS map has been improved. You can now point and click with the mouse on a specific location and make notes or add images to personalize it.
- Improved streaming will be possible with the power of todays processors. If you have seen cars on the road that matched the car you are driving, this has been somewhat fixed. More pedestrians and vehicles will be visible."

GTA China Wars: Drug Dealers Included

Thursday 25 September 2008 | Post a comment

Edge Magazine announced today that GTA: China Wars will feature a drug dealing mini-game, allowing players to sell a total of 6 different types of narcotics around the city. The news was confirmed by Rockstar Games' Creative VP Dan Houser.
"Houser added that Nintendo was on-board with the direction of the product, telling us, “Nintendo wanted us to make GTA, and we wanted to make a game on their platform. They didn’t want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren’t interested in making a game we wouldn’t normally make.”"

Rockstar Not A Fan Of Wii

Tuesday 23 September 2008 | Post a comment

In a recent interview, Creative Vice President of Rockstar Games Dan Houser let the world know his true feelings about developing games for the Wii. To summarize: don't expect to be driving Grand Theft Auto vehicles with your Wii controller anytime soon.
"It didn't feel natural to us, I guess. It really was that the DS felt like it had a lot of interesting challenges that would be totally different from what we'd done in the past. The stylus and the chance to use mini-games in that way was really interesting and exciting to us, and we thought we could integrate seamlessly between those two modes. And it would be the chance to make something really good on a handheld with our handheld-focused team. That was really why we went that way. We haven't really done any concrete, major thinking about the Wii, one way or another. They're sort of separate issues.""

New details have emerged today surround the upcoming release of GTA: Chinatown Wars. In an announcement by Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, he confirmed that the title would be released by the first quarter of 2009, placing the release date sometime between now and Jan 31st 2009. While this is far from the release date confirmation many were hoping for, it certainly is reassuring that DS players will soon have Grand Theft Auto.
"...Take-Two CEO Ben Feder also mentioned that "Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars" will be out in the first quarter of the company's 2009 fiscal year, which puts it sometime before Jan. 31 of next year. The first Nintendo DS chapter of the "GTA" franchise is being developed by Rockstar Leeds, which handled the same duties on the PlayStation Portable games "Liberty City Stories" and "Vice City Stories.""

Tuesday 9 September 2008 | Post a comment

A testimony to GTA IV's undisputed success, Take-Two Interactive announced today that the game has officially sold over 10 million copies world wide. To help put this achievement into perspective, 2007's top seller, Halo 3, sold a mere 4.8 million copies in comparison. The game has also brought in over $600 million dollars, making talk of a possible Take-Two takeover more popular than ever. Read The Rest...
"To put that in perspective, 2007's best-selling video game, "Halo 3," sold just 4.8 million. And "GTA IV" still has the holiday season as well as a PC version to look forward to. The game's revenue of $600 million also puts it ahead of the year's most popular movie, "The Dark Knight," whose box office is at $512 million and rising."

EA To Own Take-Two By August

Thursday 31 July 2008 | Post a comment

In the business side of gaming, CitiGroup financial has confirmed that it believes EA could take control of Take-Two Interactive, publisher of Grand Theft Auto IV, as early as late August. Take-Two has been involved in a bidding war between EA and Microsoft, both of which would like to purchase the firm. While nothing has been confirmed yet, we will keep you posted as this unfolds.
"“We expect FTC approval in August and for ERTS to raise its bid slightly upon approval to $27-$28 in order to potentially seal a deal in time for holiday season GTA orders,” Thill said.

However, if Take-Two refuses the bid, Thill believes that Electronic Arts “walk as the near-term economics to ERTS of a deal would deteriorate.”

It’s at least more plausible than Microsoft, especially if Electronic Arts were to raise their bid from the $25 it first offered to $28, who knows? We’ll keep you updated."

Grand Theft Auto To Hit Wii 2009

Thursday 24 July 2008 | Post a comment

More of a rumor than a fact, Grand Theft Auto is now expected to hit the Wii sometime in the fall of 2009. While nothing has been confirmed by Take Two, the news comes from Impact Virtual, a french gaming site. Google did its best to translate the website, and if you can figure out exactly what's going on below, more power to you.

"After spending a few phone calls, sent a few heads and uttered standard kind of family threats, it would seem that yes, an episode of GTA on Wii is already on track.

The game could use the engine GTA San Andreas PS2, given the sauce Wii. Finally, even if at this level, it takes more than Ms. Irma that the true forecast, the game could be announced next spring for an exit at the end of 2009. "
